thumbnail Hello,

The Blaugrana president believes that the pressure is on Madrid to win this weekend…

With Chelsea temporarily out of the way, Barcelona will have to quickly shift their attention to domestic duties as they begin preparations for this Saturday’s Clasico firecracker with Real Madrid.

The Blaugrana huffed and puffed but could only record a goalless draw against the Blues in the Champions League semi-final, first-leg clash. Now, club president Joan Laporta wants his troops to focus once more on the Primera Division, although he attests that the onus to win will be on their arch nemesis.

“The game will be more vital for Madrid than it will be for us because whatever happens, we will still be the leaders,” he told reporters after the Chelsea stalemate.

“Regardless, we will have plenty of possibilities to win in Madrid and we will take the game to them.”

In regards to the draw against Guus Hiddink’s well-organised outfit, Laporta said, “Chelsea came here looking to avoid defeat. They knew clearly that they cannot afford to concede a lot of goals and they never went looking for the ball.

“They defended very well but the most important thing is that they didn’t score against us either. It is a positive result for us as well, because we know that if we can score even a goal at Stamford Bridge, we can make their life very difficult.”
