thumbnail Hello,

The Blues pair has jumped to the defence of Los Blancos’ troubled defender.

Real Madrid centre-back Pepe has so far been roundly criticised by everyone in the game, from his team-mates to his peers to the media, following his moment of madness in midweek against Getafe.

The Portuguese international kicked Javier Casquero on the ground twice shortly after pushing the Geta midfielder to the turf to give away a late penalty, before he went on to exacerbate the issue by lashing out further at his opponents.

His desperate plea for forgiveness has fallen on deaf ears, but now he has finally found support in the form of his compatriots, Chelsea’s Deco and Ricardo Carvalho.

“I regret not being able to be there alongside Pepe to help him overcome this situation,” Deco was quoted as saying by A Bola.

“The error has already been committed and he is now suffering very much. I believe that he can carry out his punishment with his head held high. The important thing now is to support and defend him.”

Pepe’s defensive partner in the national team, Carvalho, said, “He made a mistake, but everyone can make a mistake once in their lifetime.

“The bottom line is that he immediately recognised his error and apologised to everyone. He is an exemplary professional, a companion with a great character, and someone who is always willing to help a fellow team-mate.”

Neither Madrid nor the LFP (Liga de Futbol Professional) have yet  decided on a course of action, but Pepe will certainly be suspended for Los Blancos’ clash with Sevilla this Sunday.
