Real Madrid may have beaten Getafe on Tuesday, but two of their players made headlines for all the wrong reasons which has forced Marcelo to follow Pepe's lead in issuing an apology...
The Brazilian gestured towards Los Azulones' player after Real Madrid had secured a late win on Tuesday and then ran away when his opponent looked to take him on after the game.
Allied with Pepe's astonishing attack, Marcelo's actions ensured that Madrid made headlines for all the wrong reasons and the defender has apologised for his behaviour.
"It was a very tough match. You want to win a game at all costs and you sometimes make mistakes. I did what I did and I said I was sorry," the club's official website quoted him as saying.
"Things that happen between players shouldn't leave the pitch. I want to say I'm sorry and, if the club decides to punish me, I will accept its decision.
"I've admitted I made a mistake. A Real Madrid player should never do a thing like that. You learn from your mistakes. It was a tough game and we were all worked up.
"Raul has given me some advice. He said I should learn from my mistakes.
Marcelo then hinted that Real Madrid were disappointed with Sevilla's display at Barcelona as they had hoped that the Andalucian outfit, who they play next, could have taken something from Camp Nou.
"We must only think of ourselves. Nevertheless, Barcelona resolved the match early on with Iniesta's goal. We thought Sevilla could do more at Camp Nou," he added.
