Daniel Alves has stated that Barcelona were not responding to Real Madrid's victory over Getafe as they defeated Sevilla to reopen their six-point gap at the top of the Primera Division table.

The Brazilian defender believes that the Blaugrana were playing their own game and were unconcerned by what their nearest rivals had been doing.

After Madrid's win on Tuesday, Barca netted four times in an impressive display against Sevilla at the Camp Nou and Alves was delighted with the team’s performance.

“It is a great win, but we have not responded to any result," he told the club's official website.

“Barca have no limits and we have not set ourselves any.”

Coach Pep Guardiola called on his players to keep their level up and explained that there was always room for improvement.

“We have to go ahead staying strong and working hard to win trophies," Alves agreed. “We all want to improve in every game.”
