thumbnail Hello,

Pep has continued to warn his players not to take their foot off the gas as they inch closer and closer towards Liga glory…

Barcelona successfully retained their healthy six-point advantage over title rivals Real Madrid after steamrolling past Sevilla 4-0 on Wednesday night.

It was yet another smooth-sailing, impressive win and they have now taken their goal tally this term to 92, but coach Pep Guardiola realises that although the finish line is just on the horizon, his players cannot afford to grow complacent.

“We must maintain our competitive level in the final stages of the season. We have something wonderful ahead of us and we cannot stop now because we’re going through such a good phase not to go for it [the title],” he said during the post-match press conference.

“If a rival beats us, it’s because they are better than us, not because we have stopped working.

“Before the game, we spoke about the three-point gap to Madrid and the necessity to worry only about ourselves and keep on doing what we’ve been doing with a cool head.”

As has been the case throughout the season, Guardiola downplayed the compliments lavished upon his team as he rejected the idea that they are the epitome of excellence.

“No human is perfect and we, too, still have a lot of room for improvement. But we will continue our push to become the champions,” he emphasised.
