Speculation has been rife that if the Cameroonian striker does not sign a contract extension at the Camp Nou club then they will seek to cash in on him this summer.
With Eto'o's contract running out at the end of next term, Barça are anxious to ensure that he either stays for the long-term or they receive a fee for him, Sport state.
But the Cameroonian international has other ideas and is planning to stay put this summer and then decide whether to remain for more than another year or have a big pay day by going under the Bosman ruling.
Eto'o's agent, Josep Maria Mesalles, has rejected offers and discarded an extensive list of verbal proposals that have been put to him regarding a move to many of Europe's biggest clubs.
The latest reports have seen Eto'o linked with Inter, but Sport report that he is settled in the Catalan capital and does not want to uproot and try to settle in a new country this year.
While that may be his decision for the moment, if there are no signs that he is keen on a new deal then Barca could start offering him around themselves and force him out.
Before the season began it appeared that Eto'o would leave when new coach Pep Guardiola stated he was not part of his plans, but the forward won him and the club back over in pre-season.
