Aguero And Maxi To Go If Atletico Miss Out On Champions League - Report
The Argentinian pair could attract bids that the Spanish club would not be able to refuse at the start of what could be a difficult summer at Vicente Calderon...
Atletico de Madrid will not be able to prevent Sergio Aguero and Maxi Rodriguez from leaving in the summer if the club fail to qualify for next season's Champions League, according to a report.
The Argentinian duo are both being targeted by various European powerhouses, but it is Inter who are at the front of the queue to sign them, and they could launch a bid at the end of the campaign.
Los Colchoneros would try to resist any approach although they are believed to be working on contingency plans should they receive a bid that cannot be refused, AS state.
With the World Cup at the end of next term, all of Atletico's international stars will want to be playing at the highest level and the Spanish outfit could have plenty of persuading to do in the summer.
Having competed in the Champions League this season, not making it again would be seen as a step backwards and many of the squad are already said to be disgruntled by recent results.
Fringe players such as Gioukas Seitaridis, Maniche, Luis Garcia and Ever Banega are also set to leave along with Gregory Coupet, who has not enjoyed his stint at the club since joining from Lyon last summer.
In a bid to balance the sales, Atletico are set to take Jurado back from Real Mallorca and will make approaches for Betis' Juanito, Villarreal's Pedro Leon and Malaga duo Gamez and Eliseu.
