The defender joined the Spanish club back in 2006 from Atlas and since then he has played over 50 matches.
He is the third player at the team to renew his deal this week after both Robert Pires and Javi Venta also extended their stays.
Speaking to the official club website he revealed how happy he is to be staying with Villarreal for another year.
"The truth is that I am very happy because my priority has always been to stay here and because of that we have reached an agreement very quickly," he explained.
"The year did not begin well for me, because it was hard to reach my level again after the serious knee injury, but since then I have recovered well.
"I have given my all on the pitch to stay here and I believe that the club have seen that. I had the chance to leave in winter, when perhaps I was not having the chance to play as much, but I have reacted, and playing in the team has given me a lot of confidence."
