Spain Goalkeeper Iker Casillas: Fans Will Respect Our World Cup Win Over Turkey

Spain had to grind out a victory with a superb comeback in Turkey and Casillas thinks that sometimes the supporters enjoy the more dramatic encounters.

Iker Casillas - Spain

Iker Casillas recognised that Spain were not at their best in Istanbul on Wednesday evening but was delighted that they dug deep to come back and win the match against Turkey.

The Real Madrid goalkeeper believes that sometimes every side has to pick up points in any manner they can and that la Furia Roja's hard working performance was a credit to them.

Spain did not produce their best free-flowing football but Casillas thinks that winning like they did, with a late, late winner, was also exciting.

"Fans respect wins like this more," AS quote him as saying.

"It was important to see the character of the team and it was important that the team continued our good run, despite the fact that we conceded first.

"The three points are also vital because we have won a difficult away game.

"We have come away feeling good because, although Turkey scored first, we controlled the game.

"In the second half we did not bother the referee because that favoured them and we kept going."
