Samuel Eto'o Wants Five More Years At Barcelona – Report

Contrary to much of the speculation regarding his future, a report in the Spanish press suggests that Cameroon international Samuel Eto'o is poised to ask for a contract extension with Barcelona.

Barcelona may be linked with moves for such star names as David Villa and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but Samuel Eto'o has no intention of stepping aside and wants a new deal at Camp Nou, according to a report in Sport.

The Cameroonian striker's next move is under scrutiny after he told the club that he would only discuss a contract extension at the end of the current campaign.

With his deal set to run out in the summer of 2010, Barcelona are still to decide whether to offer Eto’o the chance to renew or whether to cash in on the player this summer.

Eto'o is ignoring all the rumours surrounding possible replacements for him and has set his mind on telling Barca that he wants four additional seasons at the club, taking him through until the summer of 2014.

Last summer he looked set to leave after Pep Guardiola took over as head coach and announced that the former Mallorca star, along with Ronaldinho and Deco, could go.

While the aforementioned duo did leave, Eto'o arrived back for pre-season training with a mission to prove himself. He did just that to end any talk of a move for Emanuel Adebayor.

This season he has netted 28 goals in all competitions and has been part of an incredible front three line-up along with Thierry Henry and Lionel Messi.

Despite his goal scoring form, the media are still linking Barca with Villa. Meanwhile, Ibrahimovic has stated that he would like to join the Blaugrana from Inter if they are interested.
