Manuel Pellegrini has declared that his Villarreal side can turn the tables on Arsenal when they meet them in the Champions League quarter-finals.
The two sides met three years in the competition and in a closely contested affair the Spaniards missed a penalty and were eventually beaten by Arsenal.
Now they have a chance to gain some measure of revenge this year and even though Pellegrini knows that plenty of things have changed since the last meeting, he still remembers it.
"We had many chances to draw an English side and we have got Arsenal. The tie is added to as they were our opponents in the semi-final in 05-06 but we hope that this time we can win and make our way further in the competition," he told AS.
"That meeting was three years ago and now everything is different. We have different teams, different players and different times."
The coach did not want to talk about revenge this afternoon as he said the "wish to progress" should be "more important than the spirit of revenge".
Speaking about Arsenal, he commented that "we know that they play fast and different football, but that does not make it better. We will have to wait and see if we can surpass them this time."
