Del Bosque And Hierro Consider Raul For Spain - Report

Spain boss Vicente del Bosque could name Raul Gonzalez in his squad on Friday for the two World Cup games against Turkey, according to a report.

Raul Gonzalez could be set for a surprise return to Vicente del Bosque's Spain squad for the forthcoming World Cup qualifying double-header with Turkey after his good form for Real Madrid this season.

Los Merengues' captain has not been called up by la Furia Roja since the end of 2006 after he was reported to have upset then-coach Luis Aragones with his criticism of his methods.

A media campaign to see the striker reinstated was unsuccessful and he had to watch the Spanish team win the European Championships in Austria and Switzerland on television last summer.

With Fernando Torres and David Villa in scintillating form for both their clubs and their country, it was unexpected that Raul would play international football again, but he may now have a chance.

According to Marca, his name came up in a meeting between del Bosque and Raul's old friend and team-mate Fernando Hierro, who now works for the Spanish Football Federation.

The Madrid forward will vie for a place in the squad along with Fenerbahce's Dani Guiza, Almeria's Alvaro Negredo and Villarreal goalscorer Joseba Llorente for the fourth spot.

Torres, Villa and Fernando Llorente are certain to be named and it is the fourth place up front that's up for grabs.

Villarreal's Diego Lopez will receive his first call up to the full Spain squad as his impressive season for Villarreal continued last weekend against Atletico Madrid.

Del Bosque will name his squad for the double-header on Friday and the sense of anticipation will now grow again among Raul's fans in the media.
