Bojan Krkic: I Want To Stay With Barcelona For Many Years
Pep Guardiola may be giving Bojan Krkic less chances this season in the Barcelona team, but the youngster is enjoying learning in a successful team.
Bojan Krkic has stated that he wants to stay with Barcelona for many years to come, but would not be adverse to the idea of going on loan to play regularly.
The 18-year-old has seen his first-team chances reduced under Pep Guardiola this term as has had to bide his time following regular runs in the side last season when Frank Rijkaard was in charge.
After his two goals at the weekend sent a message to the current coach, Bojan admitted that he is happy learning in a successful squad and hopes to continue to improve.
"I came back thinking that I would have more time, be in the team more often, but this is how things are and I am not unhappy," he told Spanish news agency EFE.
"I am calm because I am continuing to improve and understand what being part of a winning team means. I am experiencing the other side and seeing how things work while playing less.
"But it is difficult to play when you are on the bench and [Lionel] Messi, [Thierry] Henry and [Samuel] Eto'o are out on the pitch, three of the best players in the world.
"But what is important is to be happy with your work and to keep feeling positive and do everything you can to play.
"Then the coach has to choose his best team and the decision is no longer down to you.
"In a squad of 21 players there is a very high level. Last year things did not go well and I experienced the downside of playing football, but that has helped me."
Bojan has been linked with a move to several clubs on loan, including Tottenham Hotspur most recently, and he has revealed that he would not immediately say no.
"Since last season my aim has been to be part of the squad and to improve in all areas. This club has always been very special for me and I hope to stay here for many years to come.
"Nobody has ever presented me with the chance to go out on loan, but if one day that chance came we could talk about it."
Bojan recognised that his rise to prominence has happened at great speed and that is one reason why he is content to wait, but he is hoping to earn a starting nod in the Copa del Rey final.
"Everything has happened very quickly for me, it has all come at once," he continued.
"I have played in every round of the cup, but there are a lot of players in the squad and I am not the one that decides."
