Mijatovic: Real Madrid Draw Against Atletico Madrid Was Fair
The Atletico faithful may not agree, but Predrag Mijatovic believes his side deserved to earn a point from the derby...
Real Madrid sporting director Predrag Mijatovic considered the draw against Atletico Madrid to be a fair result.
Both sides wasted numerous chances to win the game, and Mijatovic claimed that 1-1 was the correct outcome, saying, "In the first half we were the better side, but then they caught us on the counter and we went behind. The second was a great spectacle.
"It was very open and both teams had a lot of chances."
Mijatovic then praised Klaas-Jan Huntelaar's performance, stating, "He needs very little to score, and he made an important contribution today."
Second-placed Real Madrid saw the gap at the top increased to six points, following Barcelona's win over Athletic Bilbao, but Mijatovic has not given up on the title yet.
He said, "There is still a long way to go. It was important not to lose today."
Finally, the Montenegrin looked forward to the Champions League game in midweek, saying, "It is like a final. We have not passed this stage for five seasons.
"We are capable of scoring two goals. We should be organised and think only of the win.
"I am an optimist, and I believe our experience and quality will see us through."
