Guardiola Proud After Barcelona Beat Athletic Bilbao
Barca got back to winning ways on Saturday night, but Pep knows there is still a long way to go...
Josep Guardiola was glad to see his Barcelona break their winless streak with a 2-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao but, as ever, is not getting carried away.
The Barca coach started by thanking the 75,074 spectators who turned up, saying, "The fans know that we tried hard and they value that."
He then went on to praise the efforts of his attacking trio of Thierry Henry, Lionel Messi and Samuel Eto'o. Indeed, he predicted a goal for Eto'o in the Champions League, while describing Andres Iniesta as "priceless".
In fact, Guardiola's only regret was the three shots that hit the post, taking Barca's season tally in that regard to an incredible 30.
He then urged his customary note of caution, though, stating, "This is only one game. There were some things that we did not do well that we must improve.
"If we lose again the doubts will re-appear."
