thumbnail Hello,

The Mallorca coach has not given up hope of his team making the final of the Copa del Rey, even though they have the arduous task of getting past the Catalan behemoths first…

Real Mallorca will have a towering mountain to scale on Wednesday night as they look to overturn a 2-0 first leg deficit against Barcelona in the semi-final of the Copa del Rey.

But their coach, Gregorio Manzano, has transmitted a message of hope and optimism to his players on the eve of the clash.

“What I ask of my players is that they have the belief that it is possible to beat Barca. It will be difficult, but not impossible,” he said during the pre-match press call.

“There’s another 90 minutes to go and if we can play a good game and Barca happen to have an off-day, we will have every chance of eliminating them and making the final. That is the dream.”

The Balearic Islanders have hit form at the right time, winning their last three games in succession to jump out of the relegation zone and the morale is running high in the Son Moix camp.

“The players are all very motivated for this game and we believe that we can extend our good run of form,” Manzano assured.

“Our main objective [for the game] is to create lots of goalscoring chances just as we did in Sunday’s game against Sporting Gijon but logically, we would like to score two goals instead of just one.”

The semi-final clash will kick off at 22:00 CET and the winner of the tie will go on to face either Sevilla or Athletic Bilbao in the final.
