thumbnail Hello,

The Blaugrana midfielder has stated this side can have no excuses and must simply win the La Liga title this season...

Barcelona midfielder Xavi Hernandez has fired a warning shot to his team-mates, stating that the Catalan giants simply must win the league this season given the lead they had accumulated before their recent slump.

The Blaugrana are suffering their worst run of the season, and are now without a win in their last four matches in all competitions. Atletico Madrid forward Sergio Aguero scored a last-minute winner at the Vicente Calderon, closing the gap at the top to closest challengers Real Madrid.

However, Xavi is trying his best to stave off any talk of a crisis at the Camp Nou, and is convinced that if the players continue to do things right then the results will follow suit.

According to As, Xavi said, " We are more relaxed than ever. But we must win the league because we are in a position to succeed, and do things with more humility.

"If we do this, we will have achieved the goals that we have set for ourselves. We do not want to fall into a negative dynamic - we want to start winning matches again."

Injuries

Although Xavi did not want to apportion blame for the poor results of recent matches, he admitted that the injuries to Eric Abidal and Andres Iniesta has upset the rhythm of the team.

He continued, "Undoubtedly the loss of [Andres] Iniesta has been a huge blow. When you want to keep a high level of quality in your side, losing players can affect you, and also play without [Gabriel] Milito and [Eric] Abidal."

Xavi knows that his side need to get their campaign back on track by seeing off Real Mallorca convincingly in the Copa Del Rey this week.

He concluded, "We are very keen to get to the final. The heat is on, and we are very excited to do well in the cup."
