Pochettino: Espanyol Were Unlucky Against Real Madrid
The Espanyol boss believes that his team were unlucky to lose against Real Madrid, but has far from given up on survival...
Espanyol coach Mauricio Pochettino has claimed his side were unlucky to lose against Real Madrid, but is nevertheless encouraged by the performance.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Pochettino said, "We knew the only way they would score was from something like a set piece. It was the only way to unsettle us.
"The game changed after Guti's goal. We tried to play football and had chances, but the game was decided by a set piece."
The loss means that Espanyol's future looks increasingly bleak, but Pochettino was having none of the doom and gloom.
"I am convinced that we will do well [for the rest of the season]," he added, despite the fact his side remain entrenched in the relegation zone.
