Real Madrid sporting director Predrag Mijatovic has responded to the various issues arising from Saturday night's 2-0 win at Espanyol.

Mijatovic's first call of duty was to analyse the match, and he said, "We are in great form and obtained our tenth consecutive win. We knew that Espanyol would be hard to beat, but we settled the game in the second half."

He then downplayed the significance of coach Juande Ramos' comments that the team played better without Arjen Robben. The Dutch winger was absent of the Montjuic after starring in los Blancos' Champions League defeat to Liverpool in midweek.

"It doesn't mean anything. Robben is a very important player for us who contributes positively, and it is a pleasure for us to see him play," the former Valencia striker said.

The next topic of discussion was Guti, who scored an excellent goal just days after announcing his intention to leave in 2011. Mijatovic clearly considered rumours of an exit to be premature, saying, "Guti has a contract and is a very important player. He scored a great goal and I am sure he will help us a lot in the future."

Finally, Mijatovic strenuously denied that the club had already lost confidence in winter recruit Julien Faubert, claiming instead that the Frenchman was recovering from a muscular problem.
