Roman Martinez Bemoans Espanyol's Loss To Real Madrid
The Catalans are deep in the relegation mire now, but their Argentine midfielder believes there is still hope...
Roman Martinez was left with a bitter taste in his mouth following Espanyol's 2-0 loss to Real Madrid.
The hosts were arguably the better side until Guti scored, from which point on they appeared to self destruct.
Roman said, "They did not do much before the goal, but it opened up the game.
"It was unfortunate because we put in a great effort and were equal to them. We were confident after beating Barcelona, and I believe we could have won again.
"But if you do not score, you do not win."
The loss plunges Espanyol further into relegation trouble, but Roman remains confident that Los Periquitos will be playing in the top flight next year.
"The rest of the season will be hard, but I believe we can escape this situation," he concluded.
