The SuperDepor trainer praised his players for the way they stifled Los Che out of the game to earn a valuable draw…
Although the Galicians failed to pinch all three points against a Los Che side who were playing with only ten men after David Villa was sent off with 15 minutes to go, Depor coach Miguel Angel Lotina was pleased with his troops’ display.
“I am very satisfied with the intensity and spirit my players showed,” he said during the post-match banter.
“Throughout the match, we pressed them and didn’t allow them to play on the counter and there were moments when we moved the ball around well and we were very focused.”
Lotina was then asked to give his view on referee, Perez Burrull, who officiated his first league game since the debacle during the Real Madrid-Osasuna clash a month ago.
“We all know the situation that the referee has been through. A lot has been said about him and it doesn’t seem right that he still keeps being confronted on the pitch," he said.
“I told my players that if they wish to speak to him, they must show him the proper respect."
Burrull had another busy evening, flashing ten yellow cards in total - nine alone to Valencia - one red and drawing plenty of heated protests, especially from the Los Che camp.
