Vyntra And Petropoulos Sign New Panathinaikos Deals

It's a double-coup for the Pana management.

Greece international Loukas Vyntra and youngster Antonis Petropoulos have signed new contracts with Athenian giants Panathinaikos.

Vyntra, 28, has signed with the club until 2011, whilst Petropoulos has put pen to paper on a contract that ends in 2012.

Whilst the financial details of Vyntra’s contract are not as widely reported, with some media quarters suggesting it is worth €500,000 a year, Petropoulos is believed to have signed a deal that could see his annual wage rise from €45,000 to €150,000.

The pair have impressed this season, centre-back Vyntra enjoying arguably his most successful campaign at the club since joining from Paniliakos five years ago.

His contribution peaked at the weekend, where his unprecedented doubled inspired Pana to a crucial 3-0 win over close rivals PAOK, taking them into outright second on the Greek Super League table and keeping alive their title challenge.

At the age of 23, Petropoulos has shown promise on the domestic stage with five goals in nine appearances for Henk Ten Cate’s team.

The striker spoke of his pleasure at having resigned with the club following the completion of the deal.

“I am extremely happy to stay at Panathinaikos,” Petropoulos said. “I want to play at this club for many more years.

“I want to thank my coach, Henk Ten Cate and the management; I will fight to justify the confidence they have shown in me.”
