Muslimovic: PAOK To Take United Front To Athens
Could a rare win away to AEK Athens confirm PAOK's title credentials?
PAOK striker Zlatan Muslimovic says his side will take a positive philosophy with them to the OAKA Spiros Louis Stadium on Sunday, where they will face historic rivals AEK Athens.
The ‘Derby Of The Double Headed Eagle’ might just take on some added significance for PAOK, who will be looking to establish their title credentials with what would be a massive win in Athens.
Their top scorer, Bosnia and Herzegovina international Muslimovic, has managed six goals this season and has propelled his side into an unprecedented second place on the Greek Super League table.
After returning from a lengthy injury lay-off, the former Serie A front-man helped his new team to another victory at the weekend, scoring in their 2-0 home win over OFI Crete.
Currently with six goals to his name in his debut season in Greece, the 27-year-old’s weekend strike was labelled the goal of the round.
Upon receiving his award, however, the PAOK man said he was unconcerned with his own individual exploits.
"I am pleased when I score goals but the important thing is for the team to win," Muslimovic said.
"I don’t care if I end up as the league’s top scorer, because the success of the team is what concerns me."
A near-perfect first half of the season by Fernando Santos’ side has seen them emerge as unlikely title contenders this season. It's a campaign seemingly built on a winning culture within the side.
"We are worried when we lose points," Muslimovic said. "We want to win every game and, united, we enter every match with this attitude.
"With this philosophy, tomorrow we face AEK."
