Solano Apologizes For Larissa Exit

It's a humble exit from Greece for former Magpie star Nolberto Solano...

Nolberto Solano - Peru
Former English Premier League star Nolberto Solano has apologized to Larissa, after his contract with the Greek club was officially terminated.

It was announced on the club’s website that the Peru international’s stay in Greece was over, barely six months after he joined the Thessalian outfit.

Solano made only 14 appearances for Larissa and scored a memorable goal in their recent 1-1 home draw with giants Olympiakos.

However, the former Newcastle United man has cited personal reasons for leaving Greece and returning to Peru, where he is expected to continue his career with Universitario de Deportes.

An official statement on the Larissa website read: “Although his stay with Larissa was brief, Solano improved not only Larissa’s football but also the Greek League.

“Larissa thanks him for the contributions he has made to the team and wishes him every success as he continues his career.”

Speaking to the club’s official website, the Peruvian was himself humble and apologetic in his departure.

He said: “I would like to apologize to the club, my team-mates, my coaches and the fans for this development.

“Personal reasons are forcing me to return to my homeland. Family is the most important thing to a man. From my heart, I wish Larissa and its people success in the future.”

He added: “I believe in my team-mates and the work they are doing.

“The team has the skills and experience to get into the top five of the league. I thank you for all of your support and co-operation.”
