Bajevic: AEK Can And Must Improve
Ahead of a January derby clash with Panathinaikos, Dusan Bajevic says he expects improvement from his AEK Athens side...
Following his side’s unconvincing 3-2 win over Ergotelis on Sunday evening, AEK Athens manager Dusan Bajevic has called for improvement.
The Greek giants needed an 85th minute winner from substitute Edinho after Nikos Karageorgiou’s adventurous Cretan outfit twice came from behind in Athens.
Speaking at a post-match press conference, the Serb was impressed with his team’s reaction to the two equalizers, claiming the result was a fair one.
“AEK needs to and can play better,” Bajevic said.
“But the most important thing was our reaction because we retook the lead twice, very quickly.”
He added: “Ergotelis could have come away with something today, they’ve had a lot of good results away from home.
“They have a dangerous team but no-one can say that we didn’t deserve the win – the win was fair.”
The victory continues AEK’s five match unbeaten run since Bajevic took over from previous incumbent Giorgios Donis and the former Olympiakos boss must now prepare his team for a massive derby clash with Panathinaikos on January 3.
“We can play any team, we have nothing to lose, only to gain,” Bajevic said. “We aren’t afraid.
“When you play against a team like Panathinaikos the psychology is different but we have the necessary passion.”
