The 25-year-old midfielder has made over 100 appearances for El Granate but now joins AEK on a one-year loan deal, as confirmed by an official statement on the club’s website:
“AEK announces the acquisition of Argentine midfielder Agustín Pelletieri on a one-year loan deal, with the option to purchase the player in the summer of 2009.”
Speaking to the club immediately after signing, the youth international revealed that he had watched Sunday’s derby match with Panathinaikos before officially completing his move.
He said: “I wanted to play in Europe and when I learnt that there was an offer from a club in Greece, I didn’t think twice about it.
“This is one of the biggest clubs in the country and the league is quite competitive. Before I learnt about the offer from the club, I already knew that Ismael Blanco was playing for them. Yesterday, I had the opportunity to get to know all of my new team-mates and coach, who will facilitate my adapting after my move from Argentina.
“I am extremely pleased to have seen the team win yesterday. The match was good but the fans were also impressive. From what I understand, we want to become champions.”
