No Everton Move For Lokomotiv's Odemwingie
The Uzbek-born front-man is an Everton targret, but his club have heard nothing so far...
Lokomotiv Moscow striker Peter Odemwingie will not be moving to the Premier League with Everton, according to the player's club.
The Nigerian international had been mentioned in dispatches over the weekend with regard to a potential move to the Merseysiders, who currently count four injured strikers among their number.
Aiyegbeni Yakubu, Louis Saha, James Vaughan and Victor Anichebe are all absent for various complaints and as such, manager David Moyes is expected to seek reinforcements in the winter transfer window.
Vágner Love of CSKA Moscow is also rumoured to be a target, but it is Odemwingie who has emerged as a contender for an Everton role.
However, his club are adamant that no proposal has yet been received from the Toffees, and Lokomotiv have also dismissed the prospect of a loan deal.
Club president Nikolai Naumov declared that the club would only listen to substantial offers for their employees, but nothing has been forthcoming from any club so far.
He told Sovetsky Sport: "No formal proposals, no. Not for Odemwingie or any other player.
"Calls from agents, we do not even talk to them. We just ask the club to send in a letter if someone wants to start negotiations.
"With regard to Odemwingie, then a loan is out of the question. A player who does not get in the team, perhaps, but leading players we can only sell and only then if it is a worthy proposal."
