The Beneamata recovered from going a goal down to the Orobici to take all three points, and Goal.com rates the players on show...
Julio Cesar: 6 - Will be a little disappointed not to have kept a clean sheet but made some decent stops to keep the visitors out.
Zanetti: 8 - Another top quality performance from the veteran, who slotted in seamlessly at right back and, like Maicon, he had the energy to burst forward continually and cause problems in the offensive third.
Cordoba: 6.5 - Defended well against the threat of Doni and Tiribocchi, while he also had a couple of chances to score at the other end.
Materazzi: 5.5 - Caught asleep for Tiribocchi's goal as he neither played the striker offside nor positioned himself to cut out the through ball, and he only slowly recovered his composure.
Chivu: 7 - Easily dealt with the Atalanta threat down the right hand side before scoring his first ever goal for Inter with an excellent strike from range.
Mariga: 7.5 - He was the lynchpin of the midfield, both strong in defence and also supported the attack and his performance was deservedly capped off with a goal.
Stankovic: 6.5 - The Serbian international worked hard in midfield, combining well with the forwards to create a number of chances for his team.
Muntari: 6 - Did nothing wrong in the middle of the pitch, committed in the tackle and looked to keep the ball moving when in possession.
Sneijder: 7 - Created the first goal while he was influential in the build-up to the second before being taken off at half time in order to preserve his energy for midweek.
Milito: 7.5 - The confidence flowing through his veins was plain to see as he nonchalently chipped the ball over Coppola into the far corner to start Inter's comeback.
Eto'o: 7 - More important than his lack of proficiency in front of goal was his contribution to the team's performance as he set up Mariga's goal as well as teeing up Chivu for the third.
Cambiasso: 6 - Replaced Sneijder at half time to shore up Inter's midfield and didn't allow Atalanta to have time on the ball.
Motta: 6 - Brought a good save from Coppola with a shot from the edge of the box after coming on with 20 minutes to go.
Arnautovic: N/A - A 10 minute run-out for the youngster who looked like he had a point to prove.
Coppola: 5.5 - He was caught in no man's land for Milito's goal, while his positioning for the third goal was questionable.
Capelli: 5.5 - He did his best to get forward on the overlap but his delivery was often poor and in defence he was unable to deal with Eto'o when he drifted out wide.
Bianco: 4.5 - Put pressure on himself by picking up an early yellow card, while he didn't deal with Sneijder's through ball for the first goal before playing Eto'o onside for in the build-up to the second. A night to forget.
Manfredini: 6.5 - By far the best defender in the Atalanta backline against the Nerazzurri, while it was his through ball that set up their only goal.
Peluso: 6 - He didn't make any major mistakes at full back, closing the ball down and preventing Inter from gaining too many clear-cut chances from their right flank.
Ferreira Pinto: 5.5 - Didn't have a lot of luck against Chivu - his evening was summed up with a rather feeble penalty claim as he tumbled to the floor under pressure from the full back.
Guarente: 5.5 - When he plays well, so do Atalanta but tonight he was unable to influence the game against the physical Nerazzurri and their midfield lacked a driving force.
Padoin: 6 - Played some incisive balls from the middle of the pitch but the Orobici couldn't keep hold of possession for long enough in the middle third.
Valdes: 5.5 - Couldn't get the beating of Zanetti out wide on the left hand side, and the pitch was too congested for him to have much effect when he came inside.
Doni: 5 - Had no effect up front for Atalanta aside from conceding cheap free kicks. Seemed to be struggling with injury and was taken off with 20 minutes to go.
Tiribocchi: 6.5 - Shocked the San Siro by opening the scoring and should have doubled the lead only minutes after. Involved in an intriguing physical battle with Materazzi.
Amoruso: 5.5 - Didn't have the service to be able to affect the game.
Ceravolo: 5.5 - Only managed to complete 16 passes despite being on the pitch for over 40 minutes.
Radovanovic: 6 - Showed some nice touches after coming on for Doni.
