Cesar - 5.5: Has to accept some responsiblity for Alexis mix-up but otherwise had little to do.
Bruno - 6.5: Solid performance, supports the attack well and reliable at the back. Must have taken a knock as he was replaced at the break.
David Navarro - 6.5: Reliable defensive display but his job was made easier when Fuster went off. Very comfortable second half.
Alexis - 6: Terrible mix up with Cesar for Villarreal's goal but otherwise was very solid.
Jeremy Mathieu - 7: Bombed down the left wing to great effect, particularly in the second half when he operated almost as a winger.
David Albelda - 7.5: Never let up. Even when his side were 3-0 up he patrolled the midfield with the same intensity as if they were a goal down.
Ever Banega - 7: Stunning finish for the first goal and a typically busy performance in the middle of the park. Suprising to see him replaced for the final 20 minutes.
Joaquin - 7: Drifted in and out of the game but looked a real danger any time he was on the ball, particularly in the first half. Consistent set piece delivery.
David Silva - 8: Was a real live wire thoughout and the best player on the field. He seemed to turn up everywhere. Always a danger but probably should have had more than the one goal for himself.
Juan Mata - 6.5: Saw more of the action as the game developed but still not at his best. Wrongly called offside for a late goal.
David Villa - 7.5: Showed today he's more than just a finisher. In fact his finishing was the most disappointing aspect of his display. Took the penalty and his second with clinical poise.
Miguel - 6.5: Little difference between him and Bruno. Attacked at will down the right and defended well. Brought a stunning save out of Lopez with ten minutes left.
Carlos Marchena - 6.5: Settled his side when introduced and kept them on the front foot after Villarreal were gifted a ray of hope with Nilmar's goal.
Pablo Hernandez: N/A
Diego Lopez - 7: Made a couple of excellent saves in the second half but the damage was already done at that stage.
Gonzalo Rodriguez - 5.5: Troubled by the sheer pace of the Valencia attack.
Kiko - 4: Badly caught out for David Villa to race clear and then pulled El Guaje down to earn himself an early bath.
Diego Godin - 6.5: Was a calming influence at the back and looked a class above his fellow defenders. He alone stopped certain goals that would have made the scoreline a lot worse than 4-1.
Joan Capdevila - 5.5: Stretched when Villarreal went a man down and had an absolute howler for Silva's goal but no real complaints about his performance besides.
Marcos Senna - 6: Worked hard in the midfield tussle but never really settled into a rhythm as his side were always on the back foot.
Bruno Soriano - 6: Willing to run all night but Albelda and Banega bossed the midfield battle.
Cani - 6.5: Very good in possession but struggled to influence the game as Valencia dominated
Santi Cazorla - 6.5: Can't be faulted for effort and was involved in much of Villarreal's better efforts but looked increasingly frustrated as the game wore on.
Nilmar - 7: Looked alert and always threatened when in possession. Took his goal in typical poacher's style.
David Fuster - 5.5: Sacrificed at the break as Ernesto Valverde looked to pack the midfield but was rarely involved in the first 45.
Ariel Ibagaza - 6.5: His side came more into it when he came on but the third goal killed off hopes of a fight back.
Giuseppe Rossi - 6.5: Offered a real offensive threat but wasn't given enough supply. Could have got Villarreal back into it with a solo effort when it was 3-1 but blazed wide.
