Player Ratings: Valencia 1-2 Deportivo La Coruna
Los Che have it all to do after an entertaining first leg Copa Del Rey clash at the Mestalla. Goal.com rated the performers out of ten...
Miguel Angel Moya - 6: Really can't be faulted for either goal. Made a couple of decent saves when called upon but put Maduro under serious pressure on one occasion and flapped badly at a cross which luckily didn't prove costly.
Miguel - 6: Solid throughout, even though Guardado got the upper hand for much of the game. Came more into the match as an attacking threat late on when Valencia desperately needed a goal.
Dealbert - 5.5: Badly exposed for the second goal and looked very shaky at times. Not as reliable as usual.
Hedwiges Maduro - 6: Caught napping as Guardado slipped in for the opener but made some telling interceptions when Depor looked dangerous.
Bruno - 6: Committed too far forward on a number of occasions leaving his defence exposed. Alvarez and Adrian attacked at will down this wing early in the second half to do the damage.
Joaquin - 7.5: Always looked to be in possession and run at the opposition. Gave the Depor defence plenty to think about and was the best of Los Che on the night.
Carlos Marchena - 6.5: His usual tenacious self. Battled hard and had a goal, or thought he had before he was wrongly flagged offside early on. Made way on the hour mark as Emery looked for a fresh impetus.
Ever Banega - 6: Hot and cold from the Argentine. Did some great work, particularly after Marchena went off but hit some wayward passes just when things were going well for his side.
Juan Mata - 5: His poorest performance in a while. Can't be faulted for effort but the quality wasn't there. Some decent set pieces were his best moments. Should have looked for Villa when it was 0-0 instead of blazing over.
Nikola Zigic - 7: Did really well throughout the first half both as a goal threat and a creative force. Perhaps should have scored early on but a very good all round performance.
David Villa - 6.5: Didn't see much of the ball but was always a threat. Alert and always dangerous despite the lack of adequate service.
Substitutes:
David Silva - 6.5: Got the goal which gives his side a lifeline going to the Riazor. Put some decent crosses as Los Che upped the ante late on.
Manuel Fernandes - 6: Linked well with Joaquin when he came on but didn't really stand out.

DEPORTIVO LA CORUNA
Manu - 6.5: Unlucky to be beaten by a deflection. Made some decent saves but wasn't really stretched by the hosts.
Laure - 7: Dealt easily with Mata. Nullified the Spain international as an attacking threat for the entire game.
Adrian Lopez - 7: Marshalled the defence with a commanding performance and dealt with the threat of Villa quite well. Made some vital interceptions inside his own penalty box.
Ze Castro - 7: Not easy to deal with Zigic's height but coped well. Also made some important clearances when Valencia came to life in the final half hour.
Filipe - 6.5: A fine performance. Kept busy by the lively Joaquin but was by no means disgraced in an entertaining tussle.
Juan Rodriguez - 6.5: Showed great energy and gave Bruno work to do. Defended well when called upon.
Sergio - 6.5: Hit and miss with the set piece deliveries but overall, he and Tomas got the better of their opponents in a close midfield battle.
Antonio Tomas - 7: Did well in possession, picking out some neat passes including the assist for Alvarez's goal. Certainly dominated the midfield battle for large periods.
Jose Andres Guardado - 8: Depor's best player. Finished like a centre forward for the opener and was a live wire for the first hour. Faded for a while but came back into it in the closing stages to relieve the pressure on his defence.
Pablo Alvarez - 7: Took his goal clinically when the chance came and could have had a second minutes later. A real thorn in Los Che's side for much of the game.
Riki - 6: Started brightly but his evening was curtailed by injury.
Substitutes:
Adrian - 6.5: Looked a threat when his side were on top and provided a decent outlet at times when his defence looked to relieve the pressure in the latter stages.
