Player Ratings: Juventus 1-4 Bayern Munich
The Italian giants were sensationally knocked out of the Champions League by a resurgent Bayern side and Goal.com's Subhankar Mondal was on hand to rate the performance of the players on show......
JUVENTUS:
Buffon: 6.5 - Didn't have the best of times between the posts tonight but did make a number of good saves off long range attempts especially in the first half.
Caceres: 4.5 - His input in the attacking department in the second half was noteworthy but the Uruguayan international right-back was a disaster in defence and gave away a penalty in the first half.
Cannavaro: 5 - Age is catching up with the World Cup winner as the former Real Madrid defender couldn't cope with the pace or the physical stamina of the Bayern Munich attackers. He did, however, block a couple of attempts on goal.
Legrottaglie: 5 - Was no better than his central defensive partner tonight and looked awkward and sluggish for most of the evening.
Grosso: 6 - Whipped in a few decent crosses and worked hard to keep the Bayern attackers at bay.
Camoranesi: 6 - Didn't provide much venom in the attacking department and looked under-par, although he did go close on one occasion and created a couple of decent chances for his team-mates.
Melo: 5 - The Brazilian started life at Juventus sensationally earlier on in the season but his poor form for several games reached its nadir tonight as he was severely outplayed in central midfield and looked a pale shadow of his original self.
Marchisio: 6.5 - Was probably the most dangerous Juventus player who tried to create something. It was his cross that led to Juve's goal in the first half and he made a few interventions and interceptions to freeze some Bayern's moves as well.
Del Piero: 5.5 - He was disappointing tonight and was understandably substituted at half-time. Had one or two great touches but couldn't do anything productive.
Diego: 6 - Carved in a few good deliveries but was kept at bay by a closely nit Bayern defence.
Trezeguet: 6 - He needs service to effective and he did exactly that in the 19th minute when he scored a world class goal after being fed by Marchisio. But the Frenchman looked off colour for most of the game.
Substitutes:
Poulsen: 5 - Was supposed to shore up the midfield and protect the 1-1 scoreline when he came on at half-time but Juve conceded three goals after his introduction.
Amauri: N/A
Giovinco: N/A
BAYERN MUNICH:
Butt: 7.5 - Had very little to do between the sticks but scored a crucial penalty on the half hour mark that started the Bayern resurgence.
Lahm: 7.5 - The German international exhibited why he is one of the best full-backs in the world as he was solid in defence and contributed marvellously in attack, linking up with the midfielders and strikers.
Van Buyten: 7 - He was a giant in the midfield and kept the likes of Trezeguet and Diego at bay.
Demichellis: 7 - Like Van Buyten he too was sensational at the back and did what a central defender should do in a game of football.
Badstuber: 6.5 - Didn't have the most prominent of evenings but his corners and crosses looked threatening.
Muller: 6.5 - Played the role of a support actor tonight as he linked up with his fellow midfielders and distributed the ball. It was his assist that led to Bayern's fourth goal in injury time.
Schweinsteiger: 8 - Had a sensational night as he was all over the Juventus defence and forced them to make all sorts of errors. His trademark long range efforts kept Buffon busy and he was a force in the Bayern midfield that the hosts failed to cope with.
Van Bommel: 7.0 - He had a brilliant evening in central midfield and he help Bayern ticking. The Dutchman also came close to scoring in the second half.
Pranjic: 6.5 - Like Muller he played a supporting role but his contribution in linking with the strikers was crucial
Olic: 8.5 - Showed a striker's instinct when he tapped in Bayern's second goal from close range. He was a menace to Juve's central defenders throughout the game and also hit the frame of the goal in the first half.
Gomez: 7 - Didn't look very prominent but popped up with a crucial goal in the 83rd minute that virtually sealed the game.
Substitutes:
Robben: N/A
Tymoshchuk: 6.5 - Wouldn't have received any rating had he not scored a brilliant goal in injury time.
