Player Ratings: Sevilla 2-2 Malaga
Four goals were shared in a thrilling Andalusian derby, and Goal.com was on hand to rate the players...
SEVILLA:
Varas: 6 - Did well to block Baha's shot but couldn't prevent Fernando's follow up for the first goal. Produced a brilliant save to deny Apono in the second half.
Konko: 6 - Solid performance down the right flank. Substituted for Sanchez with 20 minutes remaining.
Squillaci: 6.5 - Generally fairly dependable in defence and was unlucky not to score with a header late on.
Dragutinovic: 5.5 - Missed his kick to allow the chance for the first goal, although his set pieces were generally good.
Navarro: 5.5 - Malaga's pace gave him some problems in defence, and he didn't give Perotti or Capel enough support on the overlap.
Navas: 6.5 - Not his best evening but he won a number of free kicks and supplied some dangerous crosses for the strikers.
Zokora: 7 - Worked exceptionally hard to spread the ball to the strikers and did the job of two men after Renato's substitution.
Renato: 6 - Not a lot of impact going forward and was sacrificed for a third striker by Manolo Jimenez.
Perotti: 6.5 - Far from his best in the first half but put in some dangerous crosses and made some good runs as Sevilla threw men forward.
Luis Fabiano: 7.5 - Should have scored a couple in the first half but atoned for his misses with an excellent brace in the second period.
Negredo: 3.5 - Was awful. He had several great opportunities that he missed, including a header from a matter of yards in front of an open goal.
Substitutes:
Kanoute: 6.5 - Started playing slightly deeper than the other two strikers but made a great assist for the second goal.
Capel: 5.5 - Occasionally threatened down the left flank after being brought on.
Sanchez: 6 - He was a danger from set pieces for the short period of time he was on.
MALAGA:
Munua: 7 - He made some very good saves from Luis Fabiano and produced an excellent stop to deny Squillaci in the 89th minute.
Gaspar: 6 - Uncertain against both Perotti and Capel, but was sound at set pieces and made some crucial clearances as the game entered its final stages.
Gamez: 5.5 - Conceding a lot of chances to Sevilla and was fortunate that they did not score five or six goals.
Gonzalez: 5.5 - Should not have let Luis Fabiano get his shot away for the second goal and, like Gamez, allowed the hosts too many clear cut opportunities.
Mtiliga: 6.5 - Good first half but Navas was growing more and more dominant during the second period.
Juanito: 6 - Fairly uninspiring performance but he performed his defensive duties adequately.
Apono: 6.5 - Out-jumped for the first goal but did well in the middle of the pitch and almost scored with a terrific long range shot on 69 minutes.
Fernando: 6.5 - Was in the right place at the right time to strike the ball home, but he was very lucky that his woeful shot found Duda for the second goal.
Baha: 6.5 - Had a goal ruled out for a marginal offside on 56 minutes and was almost often involved in Malaga's best attacking moves.
Duda: 7 - He took his goal very well and frequently threatened down the left flank.
Obinna: 5.5 - He worked hard up front but there was very little end product from the young Nigerian.
Substitutes:
Forestieri: 5.5 - Most notable contribution was picking up a yellow card.
Valdo: N/A - Not enough time to make a difference.
Edinho: N/A - Brought on in injury time.
