FIORENTINA

Avramov: 6 – The shot stopper showed shaky hands on high balls once or twice and could have done better on Coulibaly’s goal. A fairly solid overall performance, but nothing impressive from Avramov.

Comotto: 6 – Exposed by Czvitkovics for the equaliser and looked vulnerable at the back. Improved after the break and provided the assist for Fiorentina’s second goal.

Gamberini: 6 – The centre-back looked solid for the 30 minutes he played. Gamberini was then forced to leave the pitch due to injury.

Dainelli: 6.5 – Dainelli was shown a yellow card around the half hour mark and had trouble coping with Rudolf on occasions. Capped a decent outing with the goal that restored the Tuscan outfit's lead after the interval.

Pasqual: 6.5 – Solid in his defensive duties and went forward whenever possible to assist Vargas on the left wing. Probably the best man at the back for the home side.

Zanetti: 6 – He was largely anonymous in the first 45 minutes of the game and was axed for Montolivo at half-time. Slight disappointing performance from the holding midfielder.

Donadel: 6.5 – The 26-year-old did not get involved as much as he would have wanted, but he showed a number of good touches. Crucial to keep La Viola balanced in midfield, as he made some telling interceptions.

Marchionni: 7.5 – He set up Mutu for the opener and went on to cause his opponent all kinds of trouble before eventually helping his team to a 4-1 lead with a subtle finish at the hour mark.

Mutu: 8.0 – The Romanian forward gifted Fiorentina an early lead with a diving header and made life hard for the Debrecen defenders for the full 90 minutes. Made numerous intelligent runs and showed some fine link-up play with Gilardino.

Vargas: 8.5 – He put in a man of the match performance with a lively display on the left wing. Swung in several dangerous crosses and provided the assists for Gilardino and Montolivo’s goals.

Gilardino : 7.5 – The Italian international capped a good performance with a goal 15 minutes before the final whistle. Gilardino also hit the bar before the break with a good header.

Substitutes

Kroldrup: 5.5 – Came on after 30 minutes and did not look too confident. Nowhere to be seen when Coulibaly made it 4-2 in the final third of the game and made some unnecessary fouls.

Montolivo: 7.5 – He immediately made an impact when he entered the pitch after the break and took his goal very well. His creativity in midfield proved to be crucial.

Santana: N/A

DEBRECEN

Pantic: 4.5 – Made some superb saves, but was at fault for Dainelli’s goal. His defenders left him exposed too often after that and Pantic appeared helpless at times.

Bodnar: 4.5 – He made numerous runs forward and swung in some decent crosses. However, he forgot his defensive duties more than once and was duly punished by Vargas.

Komlosi: N/A –
A bad gash to his head ended Komlosi’s game after only six minutes.

Szelesi: 5.5 – The centre-back had a difficult evening against Gilardino and Mutu, but refused to be bullied. Still conceded five, but was the best Debrecen defender around tonight.

Leandro: 5 –
Like Bodnar, Leandro had the wrong priorities, too. He was much too keen to go forward throughout the match and was unable to prevent Marchionni from putting in a crucial display.

Czvitkovics: 7 – The hard working midfielder was among his side’s top performers. Czvitkovics never stopped running and his cross that led to the equaliser was pretty much perfect.

Varga: 5.5 – Not the influential midfielder Debrecen so badly needed in Florence. Varga was always willing to put in an effort, but he simply lacked the class to lead his side to glory.

Luis Ramos: 5 – Was booked after 26 minutes of play for a very late tackle in the middle of the park and was lucky not be sent off.

Laczko: 6 –
The versatile midfielder failed to make an impact at the Artemio Franchi and was substituted after 65 minutes. Not the type of performance Laczko would have dreamed of.

Fodor: 5.5 –  He was a surprise inclusion in Andras Herczeg’s squad, but the 22-year-old failed to prove his coach right. Outplayed by his opponents several times and appeared to be out of his depth a bit.

Rudolf: 7.5 – The Hungarian international scored a stunning goal against La Viola a fortnight ago and once again found the net tonight. Rudolf caused the Fiorentina defence all kinds of trouble in the first half, but faded away after the interval.

Substitutes

Kiss: 5.5 – Came off the bench after only nine minutes of play and needed some time to settle in. Kiss couldn’t prevent his side’s slump after the break.

Coulibaly: 7.5 – The French attacker proved his coach wrong for benching him by putting in a superb performance. The Italian defenders had trouble coping with his opportunistic style of play and Coulibaly got his deserved reward with a goal after 70 minutes.

Szakaly: 6.5 – Came on for Laczko midway the second half and provided the assist for Coulibaly's goal. An improvement for his side, but couldn’t turn things around anymore.
