- Commanded his area well and could do nothing about the goal, although he may not need to have stayed down so long after Villa had been sent off.

Laure 6.5 - Could have pushed up more and supported the team going forward, but he was defensively sound and that is all that his coach would have wanted.

Lopo 7
- Showed signs of nerves on occasion when he look to clear the ball rather than pass it out, but it did not cost his side.

Piscu 7.5 - Having stayed strong at the back, he crept forward to net the equaliser when all of Depor's forwards had been unable to.

Filipe 7 - Did well down the flanks after clearly being told to try and cause Valencia trouble with crosses that could be met or picked up on the second ball.

De Guzman 5 - His misjudged back pass gifted Valencia their goal, but he did not let it effect him and continued to work hard.

Antonio Tomas 6 - Was given the job of helping to protect the Depor back four and he did his job well enough and could not be blamed for the goal.

Verdu 7
- If his first touch and pass was as effective as his running then he would have had an outstanding game as he had a lot of the ball.

Lafita 6.5
- Impressed when holding the ball up and when challenging in the air, but he did not win it often enough to make a difference.

- Was involved intermitTently and when he was he was effective, but it was not often enough for the coach's liking as he was substituted.

Lassad 7.5
- Really looked the part and Deportivo have done well to unearth the striker who could well lead them back into Europe.


Valeron 6
- Was cheered when coming on and his first touch bought a bigger roar, but then he added little as the ball and game went past him.

Sergio 6.5
- Came on and his experience was immediately evident as he took all the set pieces and was a focal point in midfield.

Cesar 7
- Made a number of important stops as he raced off his line to deny Depor and looks to have been a great signing for Los Che.

Del Horno 6.5
- He could not stop the crosses coming in, but he did show determination and also looks to have put his problems behind him.

Alexis 7.5 - Was outstanding in the air at the back for Valencia against a Depor side that relentlessly put high balls in to the area.

Marchena 6.5 - Dealt with the aerial balls slightly differently as he went over on a number of occasions or committed fouls.

Maduro 7 - Playing out of position, the Dutchman has done very well and after nearly leaving the club has now become a valuable player.

Baraja 7.5 - A busy performance from the Spain international and he looks to be returning to the form that made him an international.

Fernandes 6.5
- Made a nuisance of himself when keeping Depor out and looked to run forward when given the opportunity.

Mata 6
- Given is talent and his chance to shine, he did not do enough to open Deportivo up and see what their defence was made of.

Joaquín 6
- Could have put Valencia ahead early on and showed some good touches, but was not involved enough and was taken off after the break.

Silva 7 - Worked tirelessly and provided the odd superb pass to send Villa away, but he went off after Los Che were reduced to ten men.

Villa 5 - Went hero to zero as he netted a superb goal to put his team into the lead before needlessly being sent off after the break.


Michel 6 - Showed some good touches and looked assured and not unnerved by playing at the highest and he will have been pleased to have a chance.

Morientes 5.5
- Added little to the Valencia side and was unable to hold on to the ball up front as he spent most of the time having to track back.
