Dundalk fined €18,000 over Palestine flag

The League of Ireland Premier Division side must pay a hefty sum after they were punished following the actions of a single supporter during a recent European game
Dundalk have been fined €18,000 after a fan of the club waved a Palestine flag during a Europa League qualifier against Hajduk Split.

A Uefa official present at the match on July 17 ordered the flag to be removed prior to the game, only for it to reappear during the encounter at Oriel Park.

As a result, the incident has been deemed politically symbollic because of the current problems in the region and therefore is a breach of Uefa regulations.

Dundalk are considering whether or not to launch an appeal and will make a decision after receiving a full judgement from Uefa.
