Trapattoni holds 'constructive meeting' with FAI over Republic of Ireland future

The Football Association of Ireland (FAI) chief executive John Delaney has held a “constructive meeting” with national manager Giovanni Trapattoni as speculation continues to surround the Italian's future.
The meeting in Abbotstown came about following the FAI Board of Management's decision to reaffirm Trapattoni's position on Wednesday.
A press release noted that the talks between the two figures went well, recognising that the FAI and the 73-year-old have always enjoyed a solid relationship.
The meeting was allegedly conducted in a “professional and workman-like manner” and afterwards, Trapattoni confirmed he agreed with the views of the Board.
He told reporters: "John and I met today to clarify the thoughts of the Board and these were agreed and confirmed by me.
"It was a useful and professional conversation and I thank him for this.
"During the meeting we discussed a number of points that were raised by the Board to help us continue to improve our work for the Association.”
