Jose Mourinho wants to make Raphael Varane his first signing as Manchester United manager, according to The Sun.
The ex-Chelsea boss reportedly believes he will replace Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford this summer and has informed the United hierarchy that he is keen to acquire the 22-year-old.
Mourinho signed Varane from RC Lens when he was in charge at Real and has tipped the France international for stardom.
Speaking in 2014, the Portuguese said: "I think he is the best young central defender in the world. Already I think he's the best."
