A report in Spain claims that Madrid have approached the Argentine on three separate occasions but have been flatly refused every time
Real Madrid tried to sign Lionel Messi three times since 2011, according to Cadena Cope.
The report claims that Madrid were the ones who approached the Argentine on three separate occasions, only to be told every time that he had no intention of leaving Barcelona.
Madrid’s first approach for Messi came in 2011 as the club feared that Manchester City would submit a ‘dizzying’ offer for Cristiano Ronaldo.
In the summer of 2013, Madrid were again wary that Ronaldo could leave the club, and so one of their senior executives set up a meeting with Messi’s representatives, only to be snubbed by the Barcelona star.
Madrid’s last attempt came just over a year ago as the same senior executive from the Spanish club met with Messi’s camp but was denied once again.
