Semper has starred in the Uefa Youth League against Arsenal and Bayern Munich this season and Goal understands the offer could have been worth up to €4m (£3.1m) with bonuses.

The 18-year-old was Croatia's goalkeeper at the Under-17 World Cup in the summer and has been on Chelsea's radar for some time, with goalkeeping coach Christophe Lollichon a particular fan.
