Arsenal snubbed by Osimhen in favour of Wolfsburg

The top scorer at the Under-17 World Cup had been the subject of interest from the Premier League leaders but the player has revealed the Bundesliga is his preferred destination
Wolfsburg look set to beat Arsenal to the signing of Nigerian teenage sensation Victor Osimhen after the player revealed his intention to join the Bundesliga side.

Osimhen shot to prominence at the Under-17 World Cup last year, scoring 10 goals in seven games to help the Golden Eagles win the tournament.

The striker claimed last month that Arsenal had been showing a strong interest in signing him but after he claimed the Youth Player of the Year at the Caf Awards in Abuja on Thursday night, Osimhen revealed Wolfsburg was now his preferred destination.

“I have visited the team in Wolfsburg and with the promises the coach made to me when I visited the stadium, I think Wolfsburg is my destination,” he said.

“I’m going to stay at Wolfsburg for as long as the team can keep me.”
