The capital club have signed the striker on a four-year deal from Die Borussen after the 25-year-old passed a medical on Thursday

Hertha Berlin have completed the signing of Borussia Dortmund forward Julian Schieber on a four-year contract.

The 25-year-old had struggled to cement a place in Dortmund’s starting line-up since joining the German giants two years ago.

Schieber – who scored just three goals in 35 Bundesliga appearances for Dortmund – will now begin a new stage of his career with Hertha, with the capital club signing him until 2018 on an undisclosed fee.

"I would like to thank the coaching staff, my great BVB team-mates and the outstanding fans, who have always supported me, for two great years," Schieber told Dortmund's official website.

"I've learned a thing or two from [Dortmund head coach] Jurgen Klopp, practised every day at the highest level and played in a Champions League final.

"These are things that will stay with me. We are parting on amicable terms, and that makes me very happy."

Dortmund sporting director, Michael Zorc, thanked Schieber and wished the best of luck with his new side Hertha.

He said: "We would like to thank Julian for the eventful time we had together and wish him all the best for his future career."
