The 17-year-old Dinamo Zagreb attacker will join Barcelona this summer and ex-Real Madrid man Robert Jarni thinks the Catalans will suit him perfectly
The 17-year-old Dinamo Zagreb midfielder had been courted by some of Europe’s biggest clubs including Bayern Munich, Manchester City and Real Madrid, but revealed this week that he has agreed to join Barca at the end of the season.
And fellow Balkan Jarni believes he will be a perfect fit at Camp Nou, comparing him with some of the Catalans' very best players.
"He’s not like Luka Modric, he has the touch of Andres Iniesta and Lionel Messi, but he is still very young," Jarni told La Xarxa.
"Barcelona’s game is perfect for him, the boy likes to get on the ball."
According to the player’s father, Sejad Halilovic, there is nowhere else that the attacking midfielder wanted to leave Dinamo for in the summer.
"[Barcelona] are the only club I wanted Alen to join, if he left Dinamo," said Sejad Halilovic, a former international Bosnia & Herzegovina international who himself spent time in La Liga with Real Valladolid.
"He's very happy, and so am I. Signing for the club was a dream come true for Alen. Some big European clubs were interested in him, but this club were always the only option. He never thought about other offers, only [Barca]."
Halilovic, who has already been capped three times by Croatia, is expected to initially join Barcelona's B team.
