Ludovic Obraniak has hailed former France international Johan Micoud as the inspiration behind his decision to join Werder Bremen.
The Poland international arrives in the Bundesliga on a two-and-a-half-year contract from Bordeaux.
And the 29-year-old attacking midfielder says Werder and Bordeaux legend Micoud convinced him it was the right move.
“Johan is an icon in Bremen,” Obraniak told a press conference.
“He was an important contact partner for me and suggested I make the transfer to Werder.
“We know each other well since we both live in Bordeaux. He said that my playing style fits in with the style of the Bundesliga.
“We also talked about life in Bremen. He only spoke positively of the people, the city and life in Bremen. That was pretty impressive."
Obraniak will hope to make his debut next weekend against Borussia Dortmund.
