Tahiti international Steevy Chong Hue is hoping to explore more opportunities in Europe after being handed a trial by Ligue 1 side FC Lorient.
The 23-year-old, who played a prominent role in the island nation's recent Confederations Cup campaign, currently plies his trade in his homeland with AS Dragon.
Lorient have confirmed they have decided not to sign the forward but former international team-mate Marama Vahirua, who arranged the Chong's trial at the club, is confident his compatriot has what it takes to make it in Europe.
"I’ve explained to him that in a few months he could become a complete pro, a pro with a big future despite his age," Vahirua told Fifa.com.
Chong Hue, who has bagged 10 goals in 25 appearances for his country, expressed his gratitude to Vahirua for the recommendation and the striker insists he will make the most of the exposure he has enjoyed since his nation's time in Brazil.
"It is all thanks to Marama," he said.
"I’m not going just to say I’ve gone and that’s it. I want to succeed. I’ve waited for this opportunity and I’m ready to go right to the end."
