Schalke are on the verge of signing Adam Szalai from Mainz after agreeing personal terms with the striker over a long-term deal.

The Hungary international has a limited-fee release clause of €8.5 million in his current deal with Mainz and the Gelsenkirchen side are ready to meet the buyout figure.

Schalke are keen to add some fresh blood to their attack as Ciprian Marica has been unable to impress and they see the 25-year-old Szalai as the ideal signing.

Szalai joined Mainz from Real Madrid in the summer of 2010 after previously wearing the Stuttgart jersey and had since developed into a key player at Thomas Tuchel's side.

The striker will become Schalke's third signing of the summer transfer window after the previous capture of Felipe Santana and Christian Clemens.

Meanwhile, Jose Manuel Jurado is set to leave Schalke for Spartak Moscow on a permanent basis after already spending last season on loan in Russia.

The 26-year-old joined Schalke from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2010 for €13m, but failed to secure regular first football at the Bundesliga outfit.

Jurado will sign a four-year deal with Spartak worth €2.7m per season after taxes.
