Benteke 'disgusted' by exit rumours - agent

The 22-year-old Belgian star has been linked with a move away but Eris Kismet denies that he will force a move, though admitting that European football may be hard to ignore
Aston Villa forward Christian Benteke is "disgusted" by reports suggesting that he will force a move away from the club, according to the player's agent, who contradicts himself by claiming that the striker would not be able to ignore the lure of Champions League football.

Benteke was quoted in a Belgian newspaper as indicating that he would fight Villa if they attempted to block a move but both he and his representative insist that he was misquoted, with some media reporting that he was targeting Arsenal specifically.

Eris Kismet, who represents the striker, quashed speculation that his client was searching for a move away but admitted that he "might be interested" in the opportunity to play European football next season.

4/1 Christian Benteke is 4/1 with BetVictor to join Arsenal this summer
"Christian and I are surprised and disgusted by a story in The Sun newspaper claiming Benteke can do what he wants," he told Sky Sports.

"He has been misquoted. He has called me today from New York and he is disgusted, I have told him not to speak to any media from now on.

"If there is a team, a bigger team that is playing European football next year, shows an interest with Villa concerning Christian, I would lie if I said that Christian would ignore that.

Manager Paul Lambert, who brought Benteke to the club in an €8 million deal from Genk last summer, has confirmed that contract talks between the two parties are underway - however, Kismet claims that there have been no developments.

"That might be possible too [being given a new contract]," he continued. "At this moment nothing is happening, nothing from Chris to say that we are still talking about this or we are having interest from this team.

"He's more than happy to stay if he has to stay but we all know he had a good season and it's normal that maybe other teams are more interested in him and he might be interested to play European football, which is why."

Benteke also took to Twitter to refute the allegations, adding: "Amazing that a French-speaking journalist understands what I really said. I guess that the Dutch-speaking journalist need some French lessons."
