'Happy' Tevez set for Manchester City contract talks, reveals Marwood
The club's football administrator says the Argentine's self-imposed six-month exile last season is long forgotten by Roberto Mancini, seemingly ruling out a summer exit
Carlos Tevez is "happy" at Manchester City and discussions over a new contract are already underway, according to the club's football administrator Brian Marwood. The 29-year-old has just over 15 months remaining on his current deal and it has been speculated that a summer exit could be on the cards to avoid a striker leaving for nothing at the end of next season.
However, Marwood believes the situation has completely changed for the better since Tevez’s self-imposed six-month strike a year ago, and revealed that talks over an extension continue.
"Everyone knows Carlos only has a year left on his contract but he has been fantastic for Manchester City, his scoring record, his tenacity, his energy," Marwood told the Daily Star.
"I think he is in a good place at the moment. Roberto Mancini has talked about extending Tevez's contract and these conversations will continue in the summer."
After a move to Serie A giants AC Milan fell through during the 2012 January transfer window, the club have rebuilt their relationship with Tevez and Marwood does not feel City are willing to entertain offers at any point in the near future.
He added: "We have had no offers and Carlos is happy at the club. Discussions will take place at the end of the season in terms of his future at City."
