Bendtner must take 'step down' in search for new club, says Arnesen
The Dane has failed to score a goal while on loan at Juventus, and the Hamburg sporting director - who the Gunner has previously rejected - says he must make more realistic choices
Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner, currently on loan at Juventus, has been told by Hamburg sporting director Frank Arnesen to find a new club in the summer more in keeping with his ability.
Following a relatively successful temporary spell at Sunderland last season, the Dane has failed to replicate his form for the Serie A champions with no goals in just eight appearances, the last of which coming in December.
And Arnesen believes Bendtner needs to take a step back and play for a smaller club first, revealing that he turned down Hamburg in the past in favour of a more lucrative deal elsewhere.
"He must take a step down and choose a good club where he can rediscover the joy of playing and play a lot," Arnesen told reporters.
"He said no to me twice because he wanted to play in an even bigger club.
"He must make sure he is always in the best shape and so he should be more humble and think about how he can get the most out of his talent."
The 25-year-old was recently found guilty of driving while under the influence and has been handed a six-month suspension from playing for the Denmark national team as a result.
