Juventus agree terms with Anelka
By Joe Wright
Jan 25, 2013 6:40:00 PM
The Bianconeri are set to sign the Shanghai Shenhua frontman on a six-month deal worth an initial €600,000, with the option to extend his stay by a further year
Juventus have reached a agreement to sign Shanghai Shenhua striker Nicolas Anelka until the end of the season, Goal.com understands. The Old Lady's pursuit of a forward has been well-documented of late, and the Italian champions confirmed that Fernando Llorente would join the club at the end of the season on Thursday.
Goal.com exclusively revealed that the Serie A champions have not given up their pursuit of a loan deal for Olympique Lyonnais attacker Lisandro Lopez, while they have been continually linked with Didier Drogba after failing in their efforts to sign Llorente this month.
Despite the problems with negotiating a deal for Drogba, it seems that an agreement for Shanghai Shenhua team-mate Anelka has been far more straightforward, and the Bianconeri have now finalised terms with the 33-year-old.
The former Chelsea striker has agreed a six-month deal worth €600,000, excluding bonuses, with an option to extend his stay by a further year included in the terms of the contract.
Anelka has been linked with a number of other European clubs this month: QPR boss Harry Redknapp is a big admirer of the forward, who also spent time training with Paris Saint-Germain earlier in the window.
Juventus have decided to push forward with the deal in an effort to avoid being left-short handed with strikers for the remainder of the season, as Lyon continue to play hardball over a deal for Lopez while Fabio Quagliarella seems to be nearing a loan switch to title rivals Fiorentina.
