Roma have beaten Fulham to the signature of Olympiakos defender Vasilis Torosidis.
The Greece international, who plays at right-back, has agreed a contract with the Serie A club, in a €2.5 million deal, and will undergo a medical imminently.
The 27-year-old recently announced he would not be renewing his contract with the Greek Super League leaders, which expires in June, with the player's agent George Kazianis confirming he was about to sign a deal with the Cottagers, before the Giallorossi's intervention.
"Yes, we were about to sign a contract with Fulham but Roma have made a better offer at the last minute," he told Calciomercato.
The defender, who can play in central midfield and on the right flank as well as at full-back, will move to Stadio Olimpico this month subject to passing a medical.
The Greek giants have decided to cash in on the player rather than risk losing him on a free transfer this summer.
